Mortevivum includes subject matter that may be triggering or traumatizing, particularly images of violence and harm done to Black bodies. This digital edition has been designed to help mitigate these effects by responsibly altering images and allowing readers to determine how and for how long challenging material is experienced. Thus, by including images that do the work without doing the damage, the digital edition introduces a new form of visual literacy that comes through writing and agency. The following content is not all bleak; Mortevivum also includes images of Black joy.
